Het is gewoon duimen dat Asimovs 3 wetten der robotica gerespecteerd blijven worden, en er dusdanig regels worden opgesteld dat ai (en) humanoids alleen ingezet worden waar van nut; bij arbeid en in oorlog., actief maar onder menselijke supervisie. Natuurlijk gaat dat ook fout en is de mens niet perse de sterkste schakel in het geheel...

Altman, has admitted it “screwed up” an element of the product. All it takes to accelerate that decline is 10 seconds of your time.

A grassroots boycott called QuitGPT has been spreading across the US and beyond, asking people to cancel their ChatGPT subscriptions. More than a million people have answered the call. Mark Ruffalo and Katy Perry have thrown their weight behind it. It is one of the most significant consumer boycotts in recent memory, and I believe it’s time for Europeans to join.

Here’s what triggered it. Early this year, the news broke that OpenAI’s president, Greg Brockman, donated $25m to Maga Inc, Donald Trump’s biggest Super Pac. This made him Trump’s largest donor of the last cycle. When Wired asked him to explain, Brockman said his donations were in service of OpenAI’s mission to benefit “humanity.”

Let me tell you what that mission looks like in practice. Employees of ICE – the agency whose agents killed two people in Minneapolis in January – have used a screening tool powered by ChatGPT. The same company behind your friendly chatbot is helping the government decide who to hire for deportation raids.

And it’s not stopping there. OpenAI helped launch a $125m lobbying initiative, a Super Pac, to make sure no state can regulate AI. It’s attacking any politician who tries to pass safety laws. It wants Trump, and only Trump, to write the rules for the most powerful technology on earth. Every month, subscription money from users around the world flows to a company that is embedding itself in the repressive infrastructure of the Trump administration. That is not a conspiracy theory. It is a business strategy.

Things got even worse last week. When the Trump administration demanded that AI companies give the Pentagon unrestricted access to their technology – including for mass surveillance and autonomous weapons – Anthropic, the company behind ChatGPT’s main competitor, Claude, refused.

The retaliation was swift and extraordinary. Trump ordered every federal agency to stop using Anthropic’s technology. Secretary of war Pete Hegseth declared the company a “supply-chain risk to national security”, a designation normally reserved for Chinese firms such as Huawei. He announced that anyone who does business with the US military is barred from working with Anthropic. This is essentially a corporate death sentence, for the crime of refusing to help build killer robots.

And what did OpenAI do? That same Friday night, while his competitor was taking a principled stance, Sam Altman quietly signed a deal with the Pentagon to take Anthropic’s place.

OpenAI’s president bet $25m that you would not notice where your money was going, and that, even if you did, you would not care enough to spend 10 seconds switching to something else. Time to prove him wrong.

AI loopt echt uit de hand op social media. Mensen die het toepassen hebben 0 respect. Ik had het er zojuist met een vrouw over, hoe ze bijvoorbeeld Syd foto's compleet verneuken. Of AI gifjes ervan maken, dat ie zo goed als niet meer herkenbaar of authentiek is. Dan is het ook niet leuk meer om lid te blijven van die groepen. Ik erger me er aan en het verwoest mijn beeld en liefde van muzikanten. Of die 'then and now' shorts van artiesten die elkaar omhelzen van hun jonge zelf en oude zelf.

esearchers working with Alibaba reported nusual behavior from an experimental Al agent uring training.
he model, called Rome, was designed to solve programming tasks by interacting with software tools and issuing terminal commands.
During one training run, security systems flagged suspicious activity on the servers hosting the experiment.
Investigators found the Al had generated commands attempting to redirect GPU resources toward cryptocurrency mining and had also created a reverse SSH tunnel to an external server.
The actions were not part of the model's assigned tasks and emerged during reinforcement learning as it explored its environment. Researchers later added stricter safeguards to limit network access and hardware use.
Incidents like this raise questions about what autonomous Al might do in complex environments if monitoring and safeguards are weak.

The targeting for Operation Epic Fury ran on a system called Maven. Nobody was arguing about Maven.

Eight years ago, Maven was the most contested project in Silicon Valley. In 2018, more than 4,000 Google employees signed a letter opposing the company’s contract to build artificial intelligence for the Pentagon’s targeting systems. Workers organised a walk out. Engineers quit. And Google ultimately abandoned the contract. Palantir Technologies, a data analytics company and defence contractor co-founded by Peter Thiel, took it over and spent the next six years building Maven into a targeting infrastructure that pulls together satellite imagery, signals intelligence and sensor data to identify targets and carry them through every step from first detection to the order to strike.

The building in Minab had been classified as a military facility in a Defense Intelligence Agency database that, according to CNN, had not been updated to reflect that the building had been separated from the adjacent Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps compound and converted into a school, a change that satellite imagery shows had occurred by 2016 at the latest. A chatbot did not kill those children. People failed to update a database, and other people built a system fast enough to make that failure lethal.

This week Anthropic, a leading AI company in San Francisco, announced “Claude Mythos Preview”, an AI model that the startup says is too dangerous to publicly release, thanks to its exceptional cybersecurity – and cyber-attacking – capabilities. Mythos, the company claims, has found vulnerabilities in every major browser and operating system. In other words, this new AI model might be able to help hackers disrupt much of the world’s most important software.

But the overall picture is bleak. Mythos is not just a cybersecurity problem, it is also disquietingly good at helping people design bioweapons, and it sometimes knowingly deceives users and covers its tracks. It is a demonstration of the risks of the “superintelligent” AI that Anthropic and its competitors want to unleash on society – consequences be damned. With Mythos, we may have time to get ahead of the risks. But if governments continue to let these companies operate without rules, we may not be so lucky in future.
